I dreamed about the sky. Then I got it. A piece of heaven 10000 feet above the ground and I spent more than 14 hours there. Who’s like me?
The first flight was a night one and it was the longest night ever. 7 hours longer than the usual
. It wasn’t bad though. Although I didn’t have a window seat, I had a comfortable flight because there was nobody sitting next to me and I had two seats to sleep on. I bet almost everybody on the plane hated me for this. Well, I don’t complain. When I got motion sickness in the middle of the flight, the consequences would have been ugly if it hadn’t been for the extra space I had to lie on.
Then after three hours at Atatürk Airport and spending a ridiculous amount of money on Turkish delight and halva we were supposed to take off for Sofia. But it didn’t happen as planned. We had to wait for more than an hour for a permission to take off because of the weather. There were at least 20 airplanes on the line!
Eventually we took off and I was extremely happy to have my seat next to the window giving me a chance to look at Istanbul from the sky and then dive in to the fluffy clouds. And I must be thankful that the flight attendants didn’t try to kill me even though I was taking pictures during take off (Bad me!) .
It was worth the risk of being scolded. The view was simply breathtaking. Blue morning sky, golden sun beams reflecting from the sea and soft white clouds everywhere around us. May we never land, please?
I spent most of the flight taking pictures oblivious for everything that was going on in the plane. People eating, talking, reading… who cares about this? I could touch the sun if I wanted to!
The sun through my window. My sun! So close, closer than it has ever been! And the airplane on a bed of clouds taking me home.
The sky at 10000 feet is the brightest shade of blue. Words cannot describe how good it feels to be so high above the clouds. All problems on the ground are far, far away…
Blue. More blue. And then some more.
Then I finally arrived home on Saturday afternoon after wandering for more than two days. My brother received his (almost) new camera but I will have my 16,2 megapixel memories of heaven forever.
Is there anything more beautiful than this?

This reminds me of my flight to Germany last summer in (2010), but your view is O so much better! I didn’t know you weren’t allowed to take photos when the plane was taking off.

In general you are not allowed to use any electronic equipment during taxi, take off and landing but I almost always use my camera.

I’m glad you did (use your camera) or I wouldn’t be able to see the Simple Lovely Photos!

I’m hoping we get to read a little bit about the reunion and your time at home! I keep wondering how it’s going. Even yesterday whilst my family celebrated Christmas, I wondered… and thought.. I wander if you are even awake yet?? Or if you’ve already celebrated all the way across the world! I wonder what sorts of things you do? What you do for
I was on my computer quite a bit posting photos from my celebration… so I also thought… I’m so strange.. Not many people would be on their computer on Christmas day! Or would they??
I hope it is going well! <3
Merry Christmas!
And Soon to be a Happy New Year!

Thought I could wish you Merry Christmas here as well
The pictures are truly breathtaking. I can’t understand why I’ve never thought of using my camera from an airplane before. I probably though it wasn’t allowed, haha!
Ahh, you beautiful friend, you made me want to touch those clouds. Or more jump on them!

Merry Christmas again!
You can use your camera during the flight but you aren’t allowed to do it during take off and landing. I obviously break this rule sometimes but I know it is OK as long as I don’t use my mobile phone camera

Beautiful, dreamy sky shot.
I traveled 10000km as well, the other way, from Denmark to the Philippines. To spend Christmas and New Year with my children.
Wishing you a wonderful Holiday Season!

When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.
