Do you remember this beauty from yeasterday’s post? I don’t think I will ever forget it. It was love at first sight. Now you know who owns my heart, too
.
Banana bread. The idea intrigued me the first time I saw it on a blog. Since that remarkable day I’ve been bookmarking banana bread recipes on a regular basis. Vegan recipes, non-vegan recipes, white flour, whole-wheat flour, raisins, blueberries and all kinds of similar stuff that was enough to make me dizzy. It was hard to choose the perfect recipe when each of them looked perfect by itself so I just chose the best one for me – idiot-proof and with ingredients whose names I can spell and respectively can find them in the supermarket. And the winner is…
The one from Natasha’s kitchen. It doesn’t look like bread but I don’t have a loaf pan and the idea of sweet bread is not very clear for someone from South-Eastern Europe anyway so it came in a cake form with some dark chocolate drizzled on top because I just couldn’t help it
.
Of course I changed it just a tiny bit but you know me, I can’t follow a recipe to save my life. I didn’t roast the walnuts because I didn’t think they needed to be roasted. I also used margarine because we ran out of butter after the lemon cupcakes and a mix of white and brown sugar. My enthusiasm for experimenting affected the quantities of the above mentioned ingredients, too. Just a little, you know
. For people without a sweet tooth I really recommend to add less than a cup of sugar. For everything else I strictly followed the recipe and got a perfect banana bread which smelled absolutely amazing and was twice as delicious.
I had heard that banana bread gets better with time. It was true. On the fourth day after baking it it tasted better than anything with bananas I had ever tried. And accompanied by a glass of banana nectar? I’m not in love, I want to marry it
. Rich, dense, moist. In one word – decadent.
I can talk about this banana bread forever but you get the idea – if you can, bake it. You won’t be disappointed.

I honestly didn’t guess that it was banana bread from the last post
It sure is pretty though!
I can’t have raw bananas (fore some reason, they make my throat itchy…) but I absolutely ADORE banana bread! I especially love it when the crush gets all crunchy
